Parliament passed three new Criminal Law Bills to replace colonial era criminal laws.

They are: Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023; Bh...aratiya Nyaya Sanhita Bill 2023 and
Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita Bill 2023. The new Bills are notified and published in the Gazette of India.

These Bills are aimed at revamping the Indian criminal justice system of India and replace the colonial-era Evidence Act, 1872; Penal Code, 1860; and the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.
