The Ladies' Wing of the IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry
The Ladies' Wing of IMC Chamber of Commerce and Industry, while tethered to its parent body, is a thriving forum for creating socio-economic awareness and encouraging the spirit of enterprise, boasting of over 2,000 women members from various professions -- entrepreneurs, professionals, corporate leaders, academicians, bankers, journalists, artists, social activists and home makers – all of whom bring their own knowledge and insight to the Wing. It is the oldest and most successful ladies' business organisation in India, having inspired a slew of similar groups across the country.
The focus today is on women's entrepreneurship and to that end, the Wing organises a slew of seminars, conferences, business delegations, industry visits and interactive meetings with international delegations, politicians, bureaucrats and others leading personalities. The Ladies' Wing supports and empowers women to reach both their personal as well their professional objectives, with a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship.
Our Initiatives –
IMC Ladies’ Wing Women Entrepreneurs’ Exhibition (WE)was launched way back in 1987. The Exhibition has grown by leaps and bounds, emerging as a stepping stone for aspiring Women Entrepreneurs. The Ladies’ Wing was the first to encourage entrepreneurial exhibitions of this kind in India, offering a launchpad to ambitious female entrepreneurs to showcase their exemplary designing talents and entrepreneurial skills.
IMC Ladies’ Wing Jankidevi Bajaj Puraskaris an annual presentation of an award to a woman entrepreneur from a nationwide search for her selfless and enterprising contribution towards rural business entrepreneurship. This award comprises cash award of Rs. 10 lakhs, a citation and a certificate. The award has only grown in stature since then, becoming a mascot for the Ladies Wing of the IMC in India's hinterland, broadcasting the organisation's ideals and philosophy to women who otherwise may not have encountered it.
IMC Ladies’ Wing IMPACT – International Women’s Day Conclave. The Wing has been passionately involved in making International Women’s Day more than just a celebration through its initiative- IMPACT. IMPACT celebrates the social, economic and political achievements of women in various fields. To this end, the Ladies’ Wing has organized conclaves exploring varied themes through panel discussions and seminars in the areas of law, media, culture, business, health and rural development.
IMC Ladies’ Wing Woman of the Year Awardwas the very first award instituted by the Ladies’ Wing in the year 1990. The purpose behind the award is to recognise and encourage the potential of inspirational women who have surged beyond the ordinary and committed their lives to working for the betterment of the nation. It is presented at the Annual General Meeting of the Ladies’ Wing, every year.
IMC Ladies’ Wing Award for Banking and Financial Services, since its inception in 1995 has shone its spotlight on extraordinary women doing exceptional work in the fields of financial services, banking and investments. The award is presented every alternate year to one outstanding woman at the Annual General Meeting of the Ladies’ Wing.
IMC Ladies’ Wing makes significant contributions to societal well-being and provides committed assistance for urban and rural projects focusing on education, healthcare, vocational training, sanitation, cleanliness and hygiene and socio-economical developmental projects, especially targeting women, youth and children to uplift the status of the society.
The IMC Ladies Wing seeks to nurture the development of an egalitarian inclusive society for a rapidly growing India. We at the Wing - are a true reflection of the changing status quo for women and their role in the world.
